Since its founding as a club sport in 1987, Gonzaga Rugby has consistently grown and thrived, introducing hundreds of Gonzaga students to the sport and, along the way, evolving into a national powerhouse. Today, Gonzaga fields four Rugby squads with a total of more than 200 players. Last year, the Varsity Purple team had another outstanding season, capturing both the MAVRC title as well as the National Championship.

 

Every year, the team travels abroad over Spring Break—giving the boys the chance to sharpen their playing skills against international competition while fostering strong bonds with their teammates. Recent trips have taken the team to Italy, Spain, Argentina, Uruguay, and France.
