Rugby Beats St. Edwards, Ready for the GRC

On Saturday, April 5th, our Varsity Rugby program faced a strong St. Edward's side in their first test since returning from a tour in Italy. With lessons learned and momentum on their side, the Eagles came out firing, ending the first half with a commanding 38–0 lead.

Tries came from both the forwards and backs, with standout performances from Ethan Heim, Luke Jerro, Andrew Casteleyn, Sean Garayta, Dante Uptgrow, and Tommy Kelly. Axel Ries did an excellent job controlling the pace and tempo throughout the match. Although St. Edward's showed resilience in the second half, they ultimately came up short, with the final score at 50–14. Here are some great photos from the win:

This past week, the entire rugby program has been hard at work preparing for the highly anticipated Gonzaga Rugby Classic this weekend in Aldie, VA, where they’ll face stiff competition, including Father Duenas, a team making the long trip from Guam. Click here to see results as they roll in.
