Hockey Beats Bullis & DeMatha, Ready for Jesuit Cup in Denver (CO)
After having a number of games postponed due to school cancellations, the V1 Hockey Eagles were finally able to get back on the ice to take on Bullis on Friday, January 10. The Eagles faced the Bulldogs at the Rockville Ice Arena and came away with a 3-0 win. TJ Albero '25 scored two goals and Cooper Mowrey '25 got the other while Edwin Siembieda '25 and Will Veneri '25 recorded an assist each.
This week, Gonzaga hosted DeMatha at Tucker Road Ice Rink on Tuesday, January 14 and earned a hard fought 4-3 win. It was a back and forth affair, with the Eagles down 3-2 after two periods. Early in the third, Jackson Brown '25 found the back of the net to tie it up. Siembieda scored the game winning goal midway through the period and goalie Claude Engle-Kes '27 and the defense preserved the win. Additional goal scorers included Matthew Shay '25 and Brendan Rosello '25. Albero tallied two assists while Siembieda, Veneri, and Joey Sun '26 each recorded one.
