News of Alumni: Blake Harper '24

Howard University basketball standout Blake Harper '24 was named Rookie of the Week for the 10th week in a row by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) this week -- an honor he has received every week of the 2024-2025 season.

Son of Gonzaga's Alumni Director Byron Harper '84, Blake is Howard's leading scorer with 19.1 points a game. His play has drawn attention from all around the NCAA, where he has emerged as one of the best freshmen in Division 1 college basketball this season

In his first collegiate game against No. 1 ranked Kansas, Harper went 3-3 from three-point range and scored 16 points. On December 11, he was the first freshman this century to have a 30 point triple double in the win over UVAL, scoring 30 points, grabbing 13 rebounds, and making 10 assists. Following tying his career high of 34 points in a win over Delaware State on January 4, MEAC named him both Rookie and Player of the Week. And Harper was just named Athlete of the Week by Washington's ABC 7News.
