On Sunday, March 2 at George Washington University, the Varsity Basketball Eagles defeated three-time defending DCSAA Champion Sidwell Friends 67-51 to win the title for the first time since 2020.
“I don’t know that I’ve wanted a championship more for any team that I’ve ever coached,” Head Coach Steve Turner told the
Washington Post. “This is a special group, and I don’t even know if I can put into words how special they are and what they mean to me.”
The starting five of seniors Nyk Lewis, Derek Dixon, Christian Gurdak, Will Harper, and Alex Tuomou led the scoring with 65 of the 67 points on the night; the other two points came from the team's sixth senior Langston Davis at the final buzzer. "This group remained determined to mark its legacy with a banner," wrote the
Washington Post. "Multiple trips to the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title game,
including this year, proved fruitless. With that as fuel, the Eagles (29-5) made it their mission to leave everything on the floor Sunday." Click
