Basketball's Postseason Push Continues
It's tournament season for Gonzaga Basketball. Last weekend kicked off with the WCAC Tournament, where the Eagles dominated the Quarterfinals with a convincing 95-58 win on Saturday, February 22 over Archbishop Carroll. The following day, the team faced Bishop McNamara, a team they had lost to in the regular season. The Eagles resoundingly avenged that loss, securing a commanding 90-57 victory in the WCAC Semifinal, which earned them a spot in the Championship game against the top-seeded Paul VI Panthers.
In a highly anticipated rematch of last year's final, the Eagles battled hard but fell short in a heartbreaking 58-54 loss on Monday, February 24, at American University's Bender Arena. With little time to recover, the team quickly shifted their focus to the DCSAA Tournament, which kicked off on Wednesday, February 26. The Eagles were set to face Carroll once again, a team they had already beaten three times this season. While the first half was tight, with Gonzaga holding just a 44-42 lead at the half, they exploded in the second half, outscoring the Lions by 19 points. The Eagles secured a decisive 89-68 victory, advancing to tonight’s semifinal game. The game will be played at Georgetown University against Jackson-Reed at 5pm. Check out the full brackets below:
