Football Beats Fordham Prep, Loyola Blakefield Up Next

In Gonzaga's much anticipated varsity football home opener, the Eagles dominated the Rams from Fordham Prep in a 41-0 victory on Buchanan Field on Friday, September 6. Gonzaga had a commanding 27-0 lead going into halftime, and WR Lincoln Shelton '27 returned the opening kickoff of the second half 85 yards for a touchdown and quarterback Tommy Kemp '25 scored in the 4th quarter to provide the final margin of victory. 

To start the game, captain and running back David Fred '25 scored a short touchdown and tight end Brayden Marko '25 caught a short touchdown from quarterback Jason Lindsey '27. In the second quarter, running back Jago Woodards '27 got in the endzone, and Fred scored his second touchdown of the day from three yards out. The Eagles defense was led by defensive end Tyson Harley '26 who had two sacks and defensive lineman Rex Stinchcomb '25 who had one.
