Alumni Brothers' Beanstalk Farms Hosts Students

On May 6, members of Gonzaga's Sustainability Club along with Science teacher and club moderator Mr. John Ausema visited Beanstalk Farms, owned and operated by Gonzaga alumni Mike Ross ‘09 and Jack Ross ‘14.

The Ross brothers are entrepreneurs in sustainable vertical farming, working to bring nutrient-rich produce to the masses in an affordable, environmentally friendly manner. At Gonzaga, Mr. Ausema taught Jack's Biology class and coached his cross country team, so their reunion was a full circle moment.

“My family takes our own garden pretty seriously, so it’s fascinating to see how Jack and Mike grow in such a huge, vertical, and sustainable way,” said Sustainability Club co-founder Alec Wood ‘25, who started the group with Tobin Choquette ‘25 last year. “It makes me really proud to see Gonzaga alumni changing the world for the better.”
