Rugby Wins MAVRC Championship, Nationals Up Next
On Tuesday, May 10th, Gonzaga's Varsity Purple Rugby Eagles captured the MAVRC Championship with a 48-14 victory over Georgetown Prep on Buchanan Field.
Coming out of halftime, Gonzaga held a slim 17-14 lead. The Eagles took control early in the second half and did not look back as they shut out Little Hoyas the rest of the way. Coach Baggetta's team has won the MAVRC Championship every year since 2011.

The team has reached the pinnacle of its season: the National Championship tournament which will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana this year. On Thursday, May 19th Rugby will play Greenwich (CT) at 6:30pm in the quarterfinal match. The Eagles are seeded #2 in the tournament.
