V1 Hockey Gets Hot, Rematch Against St. John’s Up Next

The V1 Hockey Eagles played three games over the course of three days in MAPHL and WCAC action this week.

On Monday, January 24th Gonzaga traveled to Rockville to face off against Landon, where the Eagles came away with a 5-2 win. Aiden Petretich ‘23 scored two goals, Will Glenter ‘23 added a goal and an assist, and goalie Carson Komorowski ‘25 had 26 saves in net.

On Tuesday, January 25th, and Wednesday, January 26th the Eagles had back-to-back matchups against Bishop O’Connell at the Medstar Capitals Iceplex. In the first game, the Eagles won 8-4 in a high power offensive shootout. TJ Kouba ‘22, Aiden Petretich ‘23, and Roman Villegas ‘25 each had two goals. Game two was a defensive battle. Captain TJ Kouba ‘22 scored a goal in the second period to take a 1-0 lead. The game would end in a 1-1 tie.

Gonzaga Hockey is now 9-6-2 on the year and 4-2-1 in MAPHL play.

Next up, the Eagles will try to protect home ice on Tuesday, February 1st as they face St. John’s at Fort Dupont at 5:15 PM.
