Dr. Harry Rissetto Wins Prestigious ADW Golden Apple Award for Teaching

Congratulations to Gonzaga Religion Department Chair Dr. Harry Rissetto who was recently awarded a Golden Apple Award for excellence in teaching from the Archdiocese of Washington (ADW).

The award, which was bestowed upon ten teachers in the ADW this year, honors educators for their outstanding teaching and commitment to Catholic education. The award recipients receive a $5,000 prize along with a golden apple and certificate.

Each year, teachers, parents, and students in the Archdiocese are invited to nominate an exceptional teacher who exemplifies the best in instructional strategies, Catholic identity, and knowledge of curriculum. Due to the current pandemic, this year's awardees were surprised via Zoom. The Gonzaga religion and campus ministry departments as well as some ADW officials, joined the Zoom call to celebrate Dr. Rissetto’s achievement.

“It is an honor to recognize these teachers for their outstanding service to our schools,” Washington Archbishop Wilton Gregory said in a congratulatory video to the award recipients, which you can view here. “Our Catholic school tradition is built upon unity. We are one family, one family united under one God who loves and cherishes each one of us. Congratulations to the 2020 Golden Apple Award recipients.”

Congratulations, Dr. Rissetto!
