GDA Hosts Master Class in Sheehy Theater
The GDA had a special visitor this week: Terry Eberhardt, the Associate Artistic Director of the Young Artists of America, conducted a master class in Sheehy Theater on Wednesday.
A graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Music and The University of Maryland Opera Studio, Mr. Eberhardt is Director of Summer Intensives for Young Artists of America at Strathmore, which presents symphonic theatrical productions featuring young performing artists from the Greater Washington, DC area alongside professional mentors. He is also the Music Coordinator for Howard County Public Schools and was a member of the 2013 Papal Choir, where he and GDA Moderator Paul Buckley met.
During his visit to Sheehy Theater, he coached the kids on how to tell a story through singing, acting, and body language. He provided concrete advice on technique and character, and reminded the kids to be confident and to embrace their amazing talents.
"It was a great afternoon of fun and music for the students," says Buckley. "We hope they'll now take this with them in their performance this fall of A Midsummer Night's Dream and this spring in Grease!"
