Crew Performs Well at Stotesbury

Crew traveled to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 18th to compete in the Stotesbury Regatta. Eight crews competed on the Schuylkill River over three days.

All eight boats advanced from the time trials to their respective semi-finals. Five of those eight Eagle crews ended up advancing to the grand finals and four of those five boats earned medals.

Congratulations to the four boats that medaled:
- 1st Varsity 8 - Silver
- 2nd Varsity 8 - Silver
- Freshman 8 - Bronze
- Junior 8 - Bronze

The four medals earned reflect the largest haul of any team in Gonzaga history at Stotesbury.

“So often the focus is just on the first and second varsity, but that’s not my job — my job is the whole program and to see all the boys become the best version of themselves,” Head Coach Tom Daley told the Washington Post. “It’s a little overwhelming. But that’s the best part... The foundation of the curriculum is to take a young boy and to build him into a man of service, a man for others,” Daley said. “My job is easy as a coach because between 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. all the teachers and staff are doing that mission.” Click here to read the entire article.

Next up, seven eagle boats will travel to the SRAA National Championship May 26-27th at Melton Hill Lake, Oak Ridge, Tennessee. You can follow Rowing's National Championship run on Instagram here.
