Georgetown University Library Highlights Gonzaga Students' Research
An exhibit opened this week at Georgetown University's Library featuring the research and work of Gonzaga's student-led Slavery Research Project. During the exhibit opening event on October 15, Gonzaga History teacher Mr. Ed Donnellan spoke about the students' work and the importance of historical research. Then, four Gonzaga students -- Pharaoh Mayo-Carey '25, Daniel Mebrahtu '25, Lonnie McAllister '25, and Justin Wallace '25 -- read original poems that emerged from the project. Several descendants of enslaved people who worked at Georgetown University were present for the event.
The exhibit, which is called "Slavery and Its Memory at Gonzaga College High School," will be on display in the library's Booth Family Center for Special Collections through the month of October.
